What is the Bronco Sport?

The Ford Bronco Sport is a four-door compact SUV with a standard four-wheel drivetrain that is designed with folks who love the great outdoors in mind. It seats up to 5 passengers comfortably while providing plenty of room in the trunk for sleeping bags, tents, luggage, and groceries, since your next adventure may be to a National Park, a local lake, or just your nearby supermarket. Ford has designed the Bronco Sport's interior with an easy clean surface, so you can keep it looking spotless from the great indoors or simple indoors.

Aside from a four-wheel drivetrain that is designed for off-roading, the Bronco Sport features a H.O.S.S. suspension system and Ford's Terrain Management System with G.O.A.T. modes. H.O.S.S. stands for High-Performance, Off-Road, Stability, Suspension, and it is built Ford tough to handle the rigors of the trail whether you are traversing sand, rocks, or water. Ford adapted this suspension system from its award-winning lineup of trucks, so you know it can handle the rough while staying tough and giving you and your passengers a smooth ride. It has special tuned front struts with hydraulic rebound stops to give you a quieter off-road experience and monotube rear shocks that provide outstanding comfort on or off the road.

As for G.O.A.T., it means Goes Over Any Type of Terrain, but you'll be sure it really means "greatest of all time" after you try out your Ford Bronco Sport. The G.O.A.T. modes are a series of adjustable settings since no two trails are exactly the same. You can choose from Sand for a desert or dry riverbed, Slippery for fording a stream or driving through inclement weather, Sport to improve acceleration, Eco to boost your fuel economy, or Normal for regular conditions. Some models even feature two additional modes, Mud/Ruts for bumpy trails and Rock Crawl, which helps articulate each wheel on the Bronco Sport to creep over obstacles. With the Ford Bronco Sport, you are getting a great SUV that is not just a weekend warrior or a commuter car, but a great vehicle that is built for you to drive year-round, wherever your travels may take you. The adventure begins as soon as you start the engine.

The 2021 Bronco Sport

2021 is the first year of the new Ford Bronco Sport. As such, Ford has decided to celebrate the occasion with a First Edition model along with four great trims, the Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, and Badlands. Each model has the standard off-road equipment, including the Terrain Management System with G.O.A.T. modes, H.O.S.S. Suspension system, a safari-style roof, and a four-wheel drivetrain.

In addition, Ford gives you a choice of two exceptional engines, each equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-liter EcoBoost Turbocharged I-3 produces 181 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. That is enough strength for the 2021 Bronco Sport to pull up to 2,000 pounds. The 2.0-liter EcoBoost Turbocharged I-4 also utilizes a turbocharger and direct fuel injection to produce 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. That's enough strength to tow 2,200 pounds and even power to move the Bronco Sport from 0 to 60 miles per hour in an eye-blinking 5.9 seconds! The 2021 Bronco Sport with the larger engine has a top speed of 125 miles per hour, while all that torque from both engines will sure come in handy when you take your Bronco Sport out on the trail.

With most SUVs, when you are dealing with a four-wheel drive, all of that added traction comes at a cost, usually to your vehicle's fuel economy. Not so with the 2021 Ford Bronco. The model with the I-3 turbo engine gets an astounding 25 miles per gallon in city driving and 28 miles per gallon on the highway, while the one with the larger I-4 turbo engine will give you a solid 21 miles per gallon in the city and an amazing 26 miles per gallon on the highway. This is due in part to the efficient design of the Ford EcoBoost engines, which combine features to make the engine more efficient and effective. It is also a result of Ford's Terrain Management System, which shifts the emphasis to fuel efficiency when set to the Eco mode.

The 2021 Ford Bronco Sport might look compact from the outside, but looks can be deceiving. The interior is truly roomy, with over 106 cubic feet of space for you and your passengers to stretch out. What's more, the Bronco Sport features the most cargo space in its vehicle class. Models with the I-3 engine have 32.5 cubic feet of space in the trunk that easily expands to a spacious 65.2 cubic feet with the rear seat folded down. Ford has also priced the 2021 Bronco Sport Base at a very affordable $26,820, which will leave plenty of cash in your wallet to spend on your next adventure, even if it is just to drive across town to the grocery store!
