We are proud to say that Ford Super Duty trucks are assembled right here in Louisville at Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant. Every Super Duty Truck is built with a heavy-duty chassis that acts as a powerful foundation for the impressive capability Ford provides with each class of these trucks, from the F-250 to the F-450. The Super Duty name has roots in a V8 engine Ford developed in 1958 as the most powerful engine Ford had ever produced, and that engine spurred Ford to create a new name for a new line of trucks.
After several generations of development, Ford Super Duty trucks have come a long way since the early V8 engines inspired a tougher work truck developed for better towing and hauling. Ford has made a lot of changes to upgrade each generation, and in this newest iteration, the Super Duty now boasts the lightest but strongest body and frame it's ever had while also delivering more convenience and tech features to improve the way buyers use their trucks for work and play.
Available in both single and dual rear wheel configurations, the Super Duty lineup offers capability that can handle the hardest jobs, whether that means towing, hauling, or even traveling off-road to a jobsite. Super Duty trucks come with factory beds ready to use or as chassis cab configurations that can be built to suit virtually any type of work truck. With both gas and diesel engine choices available, the Super Duty has powerful drivetrains tested and proven over decades of manufacturing excellence.
Powered by the 6.2-liter Flex Fuel V8, the F-250 makes 385 hp with 430 lb-ft of torque and can handle up to 15,800 pounds of towing. Opt for the Powerstroke diesel engine and increase that tow rating to 22,800 pounds using the trailer hitch receiver and trailer sway control standard for every model. The TorqShift 6-speed automatic transmission maintains power uphill and controls your downhill descent. While you drive, keep your work on schedule with voice-activated phone use through the SYNC 4 system, and power your worksite with WiFi connectivity. Fleets can choose to install upfitter modules, telematics, and data services to keep everyone connected.
With more power comes more responsibility, and with the F-350, you can choose the 7.3-liter V8 built for the most difficult tasks you ask of your truck. Made for commercial demands, it makes 430 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque to handle towing up to 21,200 pounds when properly equipped. If you choose the diesel engine, you have the added benefit of Operator-Commanded Regeneration with Active Inhibit to be able to burn off soot during long periods of idling that can clog the particulate filter. Enjoy fewer trips to the service bay with available over-the-air updates for software, or add upfitter switches for equipment.
Standard features like the integrated trailer brake, electronic shift-on-the-fly transfer case, and stationary elevated idle control lend themselves to tasks fit for the strongest member of the Super Duty family. With the Powerstroke diesel engine as the only powertrain option for the F-450, work is simplified with towing capability that ranges up to 37,000 pounds. Additional stability and strength from the mono beam wide track suspension also improve capability for handling steep grades and sharp turns, even with heavy loads.
